Subclass 462 — Work and Holiday visa

The Subclass 462 Work and Holiday visa lets eligible 18–30 year-olds (35 in some countries) live, work, and study in Australia for up to 12 months. Second and third year extensions are available if you complete specified work in eligible regions.

Who can apply

  • You hold a passport from one of the eligible Subclass 462 countries.
  • You're aged 18–30 (or 18–35 for some nationalities).
  • You meet education and English language requirements.
  • You have sufficient funds to support yourself on arrival.

Second year extension

To apply for a second 462 visa you must complete three months (88 days) of specified work in a designated regional area while on your first 462. Eligible work includes plant and animal cultivation, fishing, tree farming, mining, construction, and tourism and hospitality in Northern Australia.

Third year extension

To apply for a third 462 you must complete six months (179 days) of specified work during your second visa.
